Overview

The Director of Manufacturing will lead the assigned manufacturing organization and drive success as defined by key operations expectations for service, cost, safety, and quality. Ensures coordination and integration of our strategies for operations Excellence, Organization Development, and simplification initiatives throughout the Manufacturing organization.   While leading the Site Master Plan efforts, the position is responsible for overall site safety, security, quality, critical manufacturing, technical and facility engineering activities.

Responsibilities

  1. Drive a culture of relentless customer service
  2. Lead the Manufacturing plants and foster an environment of continuous improvement, including open sharing of best practices across sites.
  3. Manage and ensure successful new product/piloting.
  4. Overall responsibility for safety and security including people, products, and physical assets.
  5. Help drive all TQM activities within the sites.
  6. Develop site strategies for COGS reduction while managing growth and/or expansion.
  7. Help manage the effort for all new equipment, assist in establishing a project team, clearly establishing a Commissioning/Qualification/Verification (CQV) process approach.
  8. Embrace and drive simplification efforts within the sites, particularly those manufacturing activities “draining” the operations cost structure.
  9. Reduce costs of goods measured as savings year-to-year including direct labor and overhead.
  10. Ensure compliance with quality assurance measured in our QA Index and Right First Time.
  11. Develops and trains leadership and technical groups.
  12. Provides tactical direction as needed for all operations groups.
  13. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education

B.S or B.A. (preferably in engineering or business) required; MBA preferred.

  

Experience

At least 10-15 years of experience and exposure to all areas of manufacturing operations, including packaging, processing, warehousing and assembly. Must possess a strong knowledge of all areas of the manufacturing supply chain including production, packaging, and facility engineering, planning, logistics, quality, human resources, materials management and inventory control.

 

Skills/Abilities

Strong verbal and non-verbal communication skills. Ability to identify, mentor, and develop employees of diverse skills and backgrounds. Ability to understand financial data while utilizing this information to drive business improvement. Ability to recognize and achieve quality standards. Must be able to lead and develop talent within the organization while driving for success. Process oriented thinking and openness to continually drive improvement while establishing firm objectives. Strong understanding of root cause problem solving and best practices throughout the industry.  All Microsoft Office products; AutoCAD and statistical packages desired.
