Develop an Operations Accounting Department focused on plant profitability that is dedicated to cost control and reduction through continuous improvement.  Direct all aspects of cost and operations accounting including: plant profitability reporting and analysis, inventory control and reporting, accurate costing systems, SOX compliance and overall integrity of related balance sheet accounts.  Responsible for planning and controlling manufacturing costs that represent approximately 75% of company revenue.






  • Strengthen and develop an Operations Accounting Department with experts in manufacturing and supply chain processes focused on measuring and improving operational costs and profitability. Responsible for four Plant Accountants and eight primary production facilities.
  • Develop and drive budget and forecast accountability across all plants.  Initiates projects to drive cost savings in materials, conversion, and freight and fixed.  
  • Create product & plant P&Ls and drive profitability improvements with Operations and FP&A. 
  • Develop consistent financial reporting and evaluation processes; improve efficiency using Value Engineering, Target Costing, Kaizen, automation and innovation. 
  • Implement a strategy to move to a standard cost environment. Responsible for the integrity of cost systems.
  • Determine, track and report product costs and profitability on a standard/actual basis. Identify variances, identifies and initiates cost saving projects to increase margins.
  • Develop multi-plant forecasting model that identifies cost drivers and margin improvement opportunities in support of Sr. Vice President of Operations and Finance. 
  • Partner with Operations and develop an insightful financial reporting process that is linked to operational plant metrics.
  • Direct and participate in closing process including but not limited to preparation of analysis and reporting. Maintain integrity over all related balance sheet accounts.
  • Implement consistent policies, procedures, practices and processes governing cost accounting.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.




Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related discipline required; CMA/MBA/CPA preferred.




Minimum of eight years of experience within manufacturing environment.  Minimum of three years of experience directing cost accounting in a multi-plant environment with extensive experience developing effective teams and performance management.
