  • Overview

    Assists Product Marketing Manager(s) with assigned product portfolio: Responsible for tactical activities supporting Ply Gem’s mission and vision statements, Ply Gem’s strategic priorities and marketing goals specifically focused on product strategies, portfolio management, marketplace investigation, and sales trend analysis across designated product lines.  These activities include administering and coordinating day-to-day actions to gather/share/learn new information, provide data/tools/processes to achieve Ply Gem’s goals in support of our internal and external customers and other stakeholders.



    1. Acts as a communication focal point to support customers, sales and other functional areas with unrelenting customer focus by responding to daily questions/needs based on specific product knowledge and confirmation of product claims.
    2. Assists product marketing manager(s) with product refinement changes and rationalization projects utilizing the Ply Gem product modification process and engineering change (ECO) process. Engaged member of bi-weekly ECO status meeting by leading and coordinating actions across functional areas to drive timely engineering change process task completion. 
    3. Supports product marketing manager(s) with product introductions, including development and documentation of specifications, definitions, charters, volume projections and inventory impacts. Some marketing tasks include specifying features and benefits, packaging, product positioning, cost analysis and pricing guidance.
    4. Assists with product lifecycle analysis, distribution and channel data, competitive analysis, and industry trends to insure portfolio has necessary depth and breadth while maintaining financial effectiveness (ex. – Metrostudy, survey and census data, websites, trade publications, etc.)
    5. Assists in development of and maintenance of architectural specifications across product portfolio in conjunction with applications engineer(s) in support of programs like CADdetails, 3 part CSI specifications, and updating product size guides.
    6. Interfaces with the marketing creative team to insure sales tools (samples, color chips, etc.) are set up to meet market needs. Provide support as needed for literature, catalog and multimedia content reviews and system updates to insure accuracy.
    7. Completes periodic product quality audits and process audits as a validation Ply Gem is delivering on the attributes and benefits of product offering. Report results and work collaboratively with key stakeholders on improvement teams.
    8. Performs other duties as assigned.



    Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Marketing, Business Administration or comparable discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience required.



    Minimum of two years of business experience preferably in the building products industry (including but not limited to sales, marketing, technical, supply chain or operations). Experience with similar customer base preferred (distributors, home centers, builders, suppliers).  Manufacturing project management experience preferred.



    Highly developed verbal and written communication skills required. Problem solving orientation required. Position requires analytical, planning, and presentation skills.  Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools required.  Ability to influence and drive organization toward agreement and timely implementation of project goals and deliverables.  Minimal but periodic travel required.



    Position requires occasion travel (estimated as 10-15%).
