The Regional Quality Manager will serve as the quality expert in regard to the Quality Improvement elements of Ply Gem Windows Quality Management System.  They will serve as the point person in all Quality Improvement activity ensuring appropriate program requirements are set, trained and being followed at the facilities.  This person will also assist in providing systematic data driven problem solving through both project execution and training.


  • Understand customer feedback and ensure quality metrics are in alignment with customer perception
  • Develop and maintain quality metric reporting systems to enable plants to track key metrics at the necessary frequency with minimal effort
  • Improve key business metrics of cost, quality, productivity and processes by implementing and supporting lean, continuous improvement and systematic problem solving activities
  • Provide training, coaching and monitoring of organization’s problem solving efforts
  • Develop, implement, and maintain programs for identifying, collecting, analyzing, and reporting quality and reliability data, and interpreting results or trends
  • Perform data mining and data manipulation to provide pertinent reports in support of improvements
  • Utilize the problem solving methodologies and tools as required to conduct analysis, identify root causes, develop corrective action and verify effective closure and removal of issues
  • Coordinate actions across multiple plants and across functions as necessary to achieve objectives
  • Influence cross-functional teams and lead peers to resolve barriers across multiple plants
  • Visit manufacturing facilities to provide training and internal auditing of all quality improvement programs
  • Anticipate potential barriers and take actions to avoid negative impact to project deliverables, timing and budget
  • Review technical publications, articles, and abstracts to stay abreast of technical developments in industry
  • Utilize the QMS to continually improve and attain both tactical and strategic goals
  • Perform other duties as requested
  • Travel as required


A successful Regional Quality Manager will have:

  • Proven ability to initiate and implement change  throughout an organization
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, Statistical Process Control (SPC), fundamentals of algebraic formulas
  • Ability to apply principles of logic or scientific reasoning to a wide range of intellectual, complex, and practical problems
  • Ability to anticipate potential barriers and work within the organization to resolve barriers before they create delays
  • Ability to identify issues for escalation to senior management with proposed recommendations for resolution
  • Ability to successfully communicate and implement the concepts of process mapping, process capability, quality planning, auditing, FMEA, control plan, containment plan, statistical process control (SPC) and measurement system analysis (MSA) across the organization including training at appropriate levels.
  • Ability to work with traditional quality tools and methodology
  • Demonstrated knowledge of LEAN Principles and how they apply to  Manufacturing
  • Ability to work very effectively in a highly dynamic, fast-paced, results-driven, hands-on team environment with continuous challenges
  • Knowledge of Word, Database software, Spreadsheet software, PowerPoint AutoCad, and Project Management software
  • Familiarity with Visio and Minitab is desired


  • Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in Engineering or other scientific discipline is required; Master’s degree in Engineering or other scientific discipline is preferred.
  • Six Sigma Black Belt certification is desired with a minimum of 5 years of demonstrated project experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Previous multi-plant leadership is desired.
  • Certified ASQ Engineer or Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence is preferred.
