The role of Product Manager is to take ownership for specific product families and drive cross functional efforts to develop products, grow market share, productivity and bottom line contribution. This role provides the opportunity for learning how to manage a P&L while being part of a larger team and family of products in a specific segment. Opportunities for this role also include development and mentorship of team members. This role leverages a strong background in product marketing management and experience with technical products and provides excellent career growth opportunities.


The ideal candidate is bright, creative and motivated to excel. Educational requirements include a bachelor's degree and progressively responsible product management experience with emphasis in working across functions to obtain results. Experience in fenestration (window) industry or residential/builder's market preferred. The individual must possess a sense of urgency, results orientation, strong communication skills, and a mindset for continuous improvement.


  1. Develops product strategy for Ply Gem Windows Eastern US Vinyl Replacement Window Product lines.
  2. produce roadmaps, annual product plans, business cases, and monthly product reviews, launch plans, white papers, product presentations, market messaging, event support, competitive write-up and user personas.
  3. Manages communications with sales and channel partners to understand their needs, understand the needs of their users, and relay these requirements to the appropriate product and development teams.
  4. Presents the needs of the user and insures the user's needs are represented in product planning, development and rollout.
  5. Contributes to the production of portfolio business plans, strategies, roadmaps, metrics, and operational plans; portfolio progress plans and reviews; user requirements and functional specs
  6. Performs other duties as assigned.


  1. Product Strategy and Planning
    1. Oversees market analysis and develops product strategy and business case. Defines strategic product goals based on member and user needs, market needs, and overall strategic goals.
    2. Produces product roadmap and works with product owners to prioritize and define user epics/stories
    3. Collaborates on release plans with Development and Product Owners
    4. Works directly with channel partners and their users to understand the market, identify areas where Ply Gem could improve the user's experience and identify opportunities expand market share.
  2. Leadership, Management, and Communication:
    1. Provides leadership to cross-functional product workgroups. Works with other groups to understand needs from their portfolios and how to prioritize those needs against each other. Leads Product management meetings. Resolves conflicts and drives consensus.
    2. Facilitates collaboration and communication and secures commitment between Development and Product Management and other divisional workgroups towards achievement of common goals.
  3. Product Marketing Oversight and Consultation
    1. Assists in the development of strategies for customer acquisition and retention; manages relationships with user groups and assists sales team in generation of marketing and awareness plans.
    2. Understands how and when to commission market research in order to develop and maintain expertise in markets served, alternative services, new technology, and related standards.
    3. Can generate appropriate information for market sizes by sector / territory and can generate market penetration statistics.
    4. Provides training and support to the sales and support team; may assist in significant sales calls.
    5. Analyses reasons for Ply Gem product wins and losses against competition and can provide meaningful information to aid product planning.
    6. Will work to define and rationalize user personas


Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration or comparable discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience required.



Minimum of five years of business experience; three of which must have been in one of the following: 1) Product management position, 2) Building products of appropriate industry in a high knowledge role (including but not limited to sales, marketing, engineering/technical, operations management). Experience in building products industry preferred, especially with similar customer base (RSI distributors, home centers).



Highly developed verbal and written communication skills required. Strong Analytical and planning skills. Problem solving orientation required. Effective in analysis, solution and presentation of marketing data required. Ability to create and gain buy-in to strategic vision for assigned product lines. Proven ability to influence and drive organization toward agreement and timely implementation of agreed to activities.



Position requires moderate travel (20-25%).
