Systems Engineer – DBA is primarily responsible for providing operational database services to the organization with primary focus on Oracle, experience with Microsoft SQL is a plus. This role will be working with Application owners and developers to optimize DB connectivity and functionality. Responsibilities of this role would include owning, tracking and resolving database related incidents and requests, database backups, maintenance and daily monitoring to ensure service related issues are identified and resolved, and responding to database related alerts.  This position will be part of the team working with business owners to formulate innovative business solutions in support of current and future business and Company objectives, along with providing day-to-day support.


    1. Responsible for owning, tracking and resolving database related incidents and requests.
    2. Working with application owners and developers in fulfilling requests and resolving incidents.
    3. Responsible for all database backup methodology, performance tuning, maintenance and monitoring to ensure service related issues are identified and resolved for both physical and Virtual environments.
    4. Maintain, patch and upgrade multiple platforms including MSSQL and Oracle.
    5. Provide technical leadership and guidance in the assessment of existing processes and their continuous improvement.
    6. Performs other duties as assigned.



Education/Working Knowledge

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business or related field of study highly desired.
  • Database Administration for Oracle version 10.x and MSSQL version 2005 and beyond.
  • Experience in troubleshooting and resolving database problems.
  • Experience in Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO), using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
  • Experience with backups, restores and recovery models.
  • Knowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for Orable and MSSQL Server.
  • Experience in implementing operational automation using scripts.
  • Knowledge of indexes, index management, and statistics.



  • 5+ years of experience.

  • Ability to lead team discussions, solicit input and facilitate decisions in a professional manner.
  • Ability to multi-task and organize effectively to meet users’ expectations while working as part of a larger team.
  • Great organization and time management skills with the desire to complete projects on time.
  • Possess the ability to meet deadlines and manage competing priorities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
