The Distribution Manager will administer, appraise, audit, conduct, coordinate, delegate, develop, serve, organize, negotiate, lead, direct and control all distribution functions in order to achieve the highest shipping standards possible at lowest cost without sacrificing quality and safety standards. Manage, audit and communicate any deficiencies with the transporting of customer orders to their final destination.

  2. Execute the objectives set forth by aligning the department at the lowest cost possible with the highest quality standards.
  3. Provide Associates with a safe and clean work area with proper tools and/or training to execute an injury free work place.
  4. Work together with the EHS Manager, understanding the roles and the environmental impact that the distribution department can have on the environment.
  5. Ensure that product being shipped meets or exceeds quality standards and service is kept to a maximum.
  6. Exercise restraining or governing influence over activities to accomplish planned results by establishing standards, measuring work in process, interpreting results, and taking corrective actions to execute the lowest cost possible.
  7. Develop and maintain constructive positive relationships with sales and customer service, being a direct contact for any distribution needs.
  8. Work together with all departments to achieve the most productive cost effective process, using a customer / supplier relationship format.
  9. Set forth and maintain the annual budget by setting forth internal metrics, on a monthly basis, so that performance can be measured. Identify and document any changes in the plan by forecasting the increase or decreases on a monthly basis.
  10. Maintain and execute the On Time Service metric, by working together with all internal and external suppliers coordinating any deviations within the normal process.
  11. Maintain, monitor and communicate the performance of each trucking company by documenting service, damage and cost per pound.
  12. Coaches and develops staff.
  13. Performs other duties as assigned.



Bachelor’s degree preferred and/or combination of education and experience.



Five years’ experience in shipping, warehousing and transportation. Three years’ experience in a supervisory capacity.



Excellent verbal and written communication and managerial skills.  Take charge attitude.  Able to motivate, direct and delegate.  Excellent human relation skills needed.  Excellent leadership skills using the Basic Principles or appropriate leadership guidelines.  Experience in warehouse, transportation, and managerial role.  Computer skills within Word and Excel required.
