    The Transportation Coordinator will participate in the aggressive management of high volumes of shipments to Ply Gem Siding Group customers, utilizing a range of equipment for full truck transportation; including: flatbeds, dry vans, curtain sides, and step decks. Ensure the most cost-effective freight service is used in shipping customer freight by selecting carriers providing services such as truck load, less than full truck, and small package. Additionally, manage and optimize interplant shipment to Ply Gem Siding locations. Demonstrate and manage data flow between information systems, vendors, and plants. Operate, plan and process relationships with vendors including participation in negotiations to achieve below budget freight costs.


    1. Implement competitive bidding for all shipments to achieve the lowest cost routing/pooling feasible.
    2. Upload and maintain carrier contracts, set up all end users (internal and external), train all end users, and set up all Ply Gem locations within Transportation Management System (TMS).
    3. Troubleshoot any issues within TMS.
    4. Maintain carrier relationships through monthly meetings.
    5. Strong communications with plants and customer service.
    6. Administer corrective action when carrier issues arise.
    7. Negotiate carrier contracts.
    8. Timely and accurately files legal documents with the Department of Transportation.
    9. Accurately reports cost information.
    10. Assist in cost control.
    11. Performs other duties as assigned.







    Bachelor’s degree in business or comparable discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience.



    Three to five years of exposure in dispatch communication required. Strong communication abilities with transportation carriers on multiple levels; including sales representatives, dispatchers, billing clerks, and drivers. Extensive practical experience in technology oriented communications required.  Working knowledge of billing, invoicing and claims. Experience in transportation industry preferred.



    Highly developed verbal and written communication skills required.  Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required.
