  • Overview

    The Corporate Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for the development, implementation, and documentation of the manufacturing processes.

    • Implements new processes and technologies to accommodate new product introductions, product enhancements, increase capacity, improve efficiency, and reduce costs.
    • Develop and execute projects that reduce scrap, improve quality, increase output, improve efficiency and decrease downtime to improve profitability.
    • Plans, schedules, conducts, and coordinates assigned engineering and vendor work; monitors work for compliance to applicable codes, accepted engineering practices, and standards; ensures effective communication and coordination on assigned projects between all disciplines and key stakeholders.
    • Responsible and accountable to ensure that all assigned project resource personnel coordinate their activities with other project participants and key stakeholders to ensure that the project requirements are successfully satisfied.
    • Ensures the technical accuracy of specific design and manufacturing details.
    • Identifies manufacturing, product design, and equipment deficiencies. Works to get them addressed, and initiate appropriate corrective actions.
    • Aligns manufacturing processes to Demand Flow Technology (DFT) concepts and ideals.


    • Leads cross-functional teams, at various manufacturing sites, to scope, plan, execute, measure performance, and close out manufacturing projects.
    • Develops project plans establishing project goals, required resources, budgets, and timelines.
    • Manages critical capital budget projects. Includes the writing of capital appropriation requests, obtaining vendor quotations, closing out completed projects, managing cash flow, and insuring adherence to budgets.
    • Coordinates with the plant teams on project work and process concerns.
    • Requires extensive regular contact with key project stakeholders.
    • Reports out to senior leadership (typically Sr. VPs and Directors) on a regular basis providing detailed project updates and risk evaluations.
    • Accountable for the successful completion and performance of assigned projects.
    • Assists R&D efforts to implement new products and processes into production.
    • Develops all necessary process documentation (i.e. FMEAs Control Plans, capability studies, flow analysis, etc.)
    • Implements equipment designs and enhancements to improve safety, quality, productivity, and capacity.
    • Identify, investigate, and implement new technologies.
    • Facilitate the design, purchase, and implementation of machinery and equipment for manufacturing processes, as well as coordinate projects and process improvements with the plants.
    • Evaluates equipment vendors and assists in determining the right US Windows Groups strategic equipment partners.
    • Participating in contractor meetings and resolving manufacturing/engineering and management project issues.
    • Design/develop cost reduction projects, for plants and corporate, including follow-up and involvement from conception to completion.
    • Using management skills, establish relationships with vendors to keep equipment updated and current with latest technology and improvements.
    • Develop process and project documentation to include capability studies, project charts, CAD, equipment layouts, Pareto analysis, cost reduction studies, and others as assigned or appropriate.
    • Assist with R&D efforts to implement new products or process into production for improvements and/or competitive advantage.
    • Work with plant (or across business unit as appropriate) to foster and develop teamwork in our efforts to be productive and competitive.
    • Reviews product and equipment designs to insure the safety of the associates and the quality of the process.
    • Work to assure compliance with governmental rules, codes, standards, regulations, and with industry standards. (i.e. OSHA, EPA, RCRA, UST’s, CERCLA, SARA, DOT, and other as applicable).
    • Use root cause analysis techniques to lead focused problem solving efforts for implementing safety, quality, and productivity improvements
    • Coordinates with the plant maintenance leads on maintenance/equipment issues; maintenance records; coordinating repairs; purchases of major equipment.
    • Troubleshoots and resolves complex equipment and process issues, diagnosing technical problems and identifying short- and long-term solutions.
    • Assesses existing processes for areas of improvement utilizing Pareto analysis, designed experiments techniques, capability studies, etc.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.



                    Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or a related technical degree of equivalent education.



    • Four or more years of experience in manufacturing engineering with a solid demonstrated record of achievement in improving manufacturing operations through Lean principles. Experience in implementing Demand Flow Technology (DFT) within a manufacturing facility would be a plus.
    • AutoCAD, Microsoft Office Suite (i.e. Project, Excel, Word, & Power Point), CoralDraw, Arena Simulation software skills.
    • Demonstrated experience in project management. PMP training or certification would be a plus.  
    • Equipment specification, evaluation, and installation experience.

                    Position requires heavy travel (60% is typical).
