  • Overview

    Principal challenges are financial and economic analysis, planning and budgeting, accounting and information services. Provides the necessary internal controls to safeguard the company’s investment in accordance with company objectives and generally accepted accounting principals.

    Responsibilities

    • Development, analysis and interpretation of statistical and accounting information in order to appraise operating results in terms of profitability, performance against monthly forecast and annual budget, and other matters bearing on the fiscal soundness and operating effectiveness of the organization.
    • Assist and advise the Plant Manager with monthly financial performance to identify and drive cost reductions.
    • Recommends major economic objectives and policies for the facility and prepares reports that outline the facility’s financial position in the areas of income, expenses, and earnings based on past, present and future operations.
    • Coordinates and directs the preparation of the facility annual budget and monthly financial forecasts, institutes and maintains other planning and control procedures (including the cost accounting system), and analyzes and reports variances.
    • Liaise with corporate accounting group on key accounting issues.
    • Performs month-end closing, reporting and plant financial statement analysis.
    • Tracks plant performance on improvement goals and KPIs.
    • Develop and implement policies and procedures in order to maintain an environment of internal control and compliance with Ply Gem accounting policies.
    • Ensure adequate controls are established and adhered to in order to assure that both internal and external accounting policies are followed.
    • Participates and ensures the accuracy of the monthly physical inventory.
    • Serves as project manager for cost reduction initiatives, working cross functionally with engineers, procurement and plant operators to drive results.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    Education

    Bachelor of Science in Accounting, Business or related discipline required.

     

    Experience

    Eight years cost accounting experience required, three of which in a leadership or management role.

     

    Skills/Abilities

    Excellent leadership and human relations abilities. Strong oral and written communication abilities. Solid analytical and technical skills. Understanding of government regulations and reporting requirements. Thorough knowledge of financial and accounting practices and procedures.  Understanding of related auditing and IT functions.  Ability to use all related hardware and software.
