  • Overview

    Assists Product Manager in overall management of assigned product portfolio: product life cycle management, marketplace investigation, new product launches, sales trend analysis, product rationalization, internal and external customer support.  Works closely with members of the marketing department, sales, sales support, finance, engineering, R&D, logistics and manufacturing to ensure continuity in product portfolio and company goals. Performs day to day activities to help achieve desired strategic direction. 


    1. Assists Product Manager in developing and managing overall strategic direction for assigned product lines.
    2. Assists with management of product portfolio including marketplace investigation, new product development; product changes, ongoing evaluation of SKUs for potential changes or rationalization; specifying features and components, packaging design, product positioning, and cost and pricing guidance as needed by Sales Management. Use lifecycle analysis, distribution and movement data, and industry trends to insure portfolio has necessary depth and breadth while maintaining financial effectiveness.
    3. Assist Product Manager with product introductions, including development of specifications, features, pricing targets, volume projections and inventory impacts. Lead and participate in cross-functional teams during new product launches and enhancement of existing products.
    4. Provide support to Brand Management on development of sales tools with specific product knowledge and confirmation of product claims. Insure production elements (parts for samples, color chips, etc.) are delivered to meet launch timetables on new product launches. Provide support as needed in literature and catalog review to insure accuracy.
    5. Administer and coordinate day to day activities, including acting as focal point for all activities associated with product lines. Communicate frequently with customers, field sales, plant operations, customer service, and other associates involved in the daily business activities.
    6. Maintain the accuracy of product database.
    7. Coordinate competitive product testing as needed to support product development and selling communication in conjunction with technical associates. Includes requesting competitive samples from the field and working with engineering to determine suitable metrics.
    8. Provide communication, as required, on competitive information and product updates or changes to internal and external audiences.
    9. Complete department metrics and report on a quarterly basis to parent company. Provide information for management by preparing short-term and long-term product sales forecasts, special reports and analysis; answering questions and requests at the direction of the Product Manager, Director or VP - Marketing.
    10. Interact with R&D on code related issues and communicate appropriately with Product Manager and territory sales representatives.
    11. Collaborate with product management, sales, customers/ channel partners and other brand managers to understand needs and to ensure alignment of plans and directives.
    12. Collaborate with Manager – Marketing Services to ensure maximum execution of CO-OP program, on-line tools, budgets and reporting. Assist in establishing, tracking and managing marketing brand budget and forecast, along with  any other relevant activity associated with sales, marketing, and product development that may be required.




    Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business Administration or comparable discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience.



    Three years of project management, marketing or related experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment, required.



    Highly developed verbal and written communication skills required.  Strong analytical and problem-solving orientation required. Ability to analyze data, provide solutions and present marketing data. Proficient with PCs, Excel and PowerPoint required. Ability to create, and gain buy-in to strategic vision for assigned product lines. Proven ability to influence and drive organization toward agreement and timely implementation of agreed to activities. An attention to detail and appreciation of deadlines is essential.



    Position requires moderate travel (10-15%)
